It is now clear that the second generation of iPad is on its way (Q1 of 2011 ?). The different Apple forums around the world have all started to speculate on what will the new iPad 2 hold.

So what are the trending changes for the iPad2? And how do they compare with what we want to see in the next generation of iPads?

The second iPad should include the following improvements:

Video Conversation

It’s almost  sure that the iPad2 will have a front camera to allow FaceTime conversation with the other iDevices. It is also likely that the iPad2will have a second back camera to do photos but at this point there are no evidence on what kind of resolution this camera will deliver. Our best guess is that it will be at least as good as the iPhone4’s 5Mp camera. Will it have a Flash ? Do you want a Flash?

New display technology

The iPad2 display will most likely be improved. Lighter and of higher resolution. But will it reach the quality Retina Display of the iPhone 4?? That would mean a 2048x1536 display! Fitting a card in the iPad capable of doing that is not going to be easy plus it will require a lot of battery power. Therefore, in our opinion, the Retina Display will not appear in the iPad2. Maybe in future version of the iPad.

3-Axis Gyroscope

The 3-Axis Gyroscope was added to the iPhone 4 and developers have started to build Apps using this feature. There is no reason why the iPad should not be able to do the same.

Better Mobility

What would better motility mean? For that would mean improved battery lifetime and a lighter iPad. Maybe build using the liquid metal technology Apple acquired.

USB

The last speculation goes on about the addition of a USB (or mini USB) connector to the iPad. Some say it would replace the Apple 30-pin connector but we think that if a USB connector is added it does not mean the Apple 30-pin will be removed.

Design

So far very few speculation have circulated on a change of the iPad design. Where for example the back of the new iDevice could be made of glass similar to the iPhone 4.
